Unlock the Possibilities: 2004 International Leadership Conference
- August 12 - 15th, 2004
- Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, Georgia
Being fortunate enough to have attended the Golden Key Asia-Pacific Regional Conference held in February 2004 in Perth I was able to discover, first hand, the scope of the Golden Key organisation and the possibilities for growth that were available to its members. As impressive as this was, I was assured that it would pale in comparison to the International Leadership Conference (ILC). The generous sponsorship of The University of Sydney made my attendance possible and I was delighted to find that my high expectations of the ILC were realised in full ... read full report from Allan Toal (Vice President 2004-2005)
At the recent Golden Key International Leadership Conference, held in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) from August 12-15, which I attended in my capacity as President of the Sydney University Chapter, I was able to speak with some of the 800 delegates about various approaches that had been used to encourage members to partake in the opportunities available through Golden Key. In particular, I learnt about different ways of encouraging members to 'help make the world a better place' through engaging in community service ... read full report from Emma Leung (President 2004-2005)

There are a great many benefits to Golden Key membership that far too few general members are either aware of, or choose to take advantage of. Whilst the leadership, organisational and service experience available through participation in your chapter's Executive Committee is probably the greatest of these, coming a close second is the opportunity to attend the annual Asia-Pacific Regional Conference.
This year's AP Regional Conference was held from 5-8 February in Perth and was an admirable combination of an extremely professionally organised event and just plain good fun from start to finish. Built around the theme "The Colours of Success" and featuring highly engaging and entertaining motivational speakers, as well as a myriad of workshops for personal development, leadership and growth, the conference also offered GK members unparalleled networking opportunities with fellow high achievers. What's more, these benefits were experienced in 5-star Sheraton style and intermixed with a variety of social events in the most friendly, welcoming and cooperative environment imaginable.
I was fortunate enough to be able to represent the Usyd Chapter at the Perth conference along with former Vice President Marta Iljadica, who was invited to present her thesis project in an Academic Showcase. As an Executive Committee member, the Regional Conference represents an invaluable opportunity to develop leadership skills and to learn the strategies that other Execs from around the region have successfully utilised for the promotion and advancement of their GK chapter. Previous conference delegates had spoken in similar platitudes about the benefits of Regional Conference attendance, but I had to experience it for myself for their words to ring true. I strongly encourage ALL members to attend the 2005 Asia-Pacific Conference; the experience will be a rich reward for your Golden Key membership and a catalyst for active chapter participation in the future.
